Notes about EX... participants

The 2009 Ecuador expedition was the latest in a succession of successful student teams learning field research skills in the rainforest, presenting scientific data on their return. Organised through the University of Glasgow Exploration Society, Fiona Morton led the 2009 group, and Lydia Bach, Sarah MacDonald, Alexis Smith and Emily Waddell were part of her team. Dr. Stewart White has been running expeditions to Payamino for ten years and offered academic support both in the field and beyond.

Kate Foster accompanied the 2009 expedition as an environmental artist and Martin Muir spent a year living, working and conducting research in Payamino from June 2007-June 2008. A keen photographer Martin documented his time in Ecuador with a wide ranging portfolio of landscape, portrait and wildlife images.

EX... was produced by Kate and Martin working together, forging a strong creative link based on shared experience, outlook and goals. This interdisciplinary collaboration offered the chance to develop multiple ‘exchanges’ as well as present personal viewpoints.
